"Your Second Mountain"

- The Two Mountains Theory:

Your 1st Mountain is your identity, how you make your mark on the world.  What do you want to be when you grow up?

Your 2nd Mountain is your ministry to others:

• As Bible teacher
• As prayer warrior
• As spiritual role model

(Eph. 6:4; Heb. 12:11)

-There are 2 Mountains, there are 2 Responses (Hebrews 12:7-17):

1. Abraham's Response

• Gen. 22:2 - Abraham's valley, God put him to the test
• Heb. 11:17-19 - Abraham's second mountain

2. Eli's Response (he had the responsibility of raising 2 boys and he blew it)

• 1 Sam. 3:18 - God warned Eli more than once to correct his sons
• 1 Sam. 4:18 - Eli fails the test, his second mountain

- God's Two Mountain Strategy (Heb. 12:14-16; 6:4-6):

• Strive for peace - horizontal relationships - love others, everybody, enemies
• Strive for holiness - vertical relationship - help others see God, keep His commandments, keep the temple of God

- Conclusion (1 Cor. 13:4-8)
